Hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts across central Wyoming will soon have a chance to weigh in on proposed wildlife regulation changes as the Wyoming Game and Fish Department hosts a public meeting in the Lander Region.
The meeting is part of the department’s annual public input process, where Game and Fish biologists and managers present proposed hunting season structures, regulation updates, and wildlife management recommendations before final decisions are made by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission. The process gives local residents an opportunity to ask questions, discuss herd conditions, and provide feedback that could shape upcoming hunting regulations across the state.
According to the department, proposed changes may include updates to season dates, license allocations, hunt area structures, and other management regulations tied to Wyoming’s wildlife populations. Public meetings are held each year throughout Wyoming as part of the broader season-setting process.
Game and Fish officials encourage hunters and the public to attend, emphasizing that local feedback plays an important role in wildlife management decisions. The agency says the meetings also provide a valuable opportunity to speak directly with regional wildlife biologists and game wardens about local herd conditions, population trends, and habitat challenges.
Initial draft regulations are posted online during the public comment process, with updated proposals released after field staff review biological data and public feedback. Comments submitted during meetings and through the online portal are ultimately shared with the commission before regulations are finalized.
The department has increasingly emphasized public engagement in recent years, noting that even hunters satisfied with current regulations are encouraged to participate so wildlife managers can better understand community priorities and regional concerns.
Those unable to attend the meeting in person can still review proposed regulations and submit comments online through the Game and Fish public input portal.
