Greybull Days of ’49 Celebrates America 250 for 2026

One of the Bighorn Basin’s most beloved summer traditions is returning to downtown Greybull, and this year’s celebration carries special significance. The 2026 Greybull Days of ’49 Parade will honor America’s 250th birthday with the theme “250 Years America Forever West.”

The parade takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with festivities beginning at 10:30 a.m. Participants should arrive early, as parade line-up begins at 10:00 a.m.

For generations, the Greybull Days of ’49 celebration has brought together residents, businesses, ranchers, community organizations, and visitors for a hometown event that showcases the spirit of the Big Horn Basin. This year’s patriotic theme highlights both the nation’s semiquincentennial and the enduring legacy of the American West.

Organizers are encouraging entries of all kinds, including decorated floats, trailers, antique and modern vehicles, horseback riders, businesses, clubs, nonprofit organizations, youth groups, and community organizations. Participants are asked to provide a short description of their entry when registering, which will be read by parade announcers and judges as entries pass through downtown.

Parade Line-Up and Route

Parade participants will gather on Eighth Avenue North between Greybull High School and the Quigg Building, extending into the gym parking lot. Check-in and sign-up will take place near the Buff Gym area across from the football field.

The parade route will begin on Eighth Avenue North before turning onto North 6th Street and continuing along Greybull Avenue through town.

Parade Prizes

Friendly competition is part of the tradition, with prizes awarded in several categories:

  • First Place: $100
  • Second Place: $50
  • Special Categories: $25

Participants who submit their entry forms by June 4 will receive preferred placement in the parade lineup.

A Small-Town Tradition Worth Experiencing

Whether you’re entering a float, riding horseback, representing a local business, or simply finding a spot along the route to watch, the Greybull Days of ’49 Parade offers a chance to experience the community pride and western heritage that make the Bighorn Basin special.

With patriotic displays, creative floats, local organizations, and plenty of family-friendly fun, the parade is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s Greybull Days of ’49 celebration.
