The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has lifted fire bans on Game and Fish Commission-owned and managed lands in Park County, including two wildlife habitat areas near Meeteetse and Cody.
The announcement affects Sunshine Wildlife Habitat Management Area west of Meeteetse and Sunlight Wildlife Habitat Management Area northwest of Cody. Game and Fish implemented the restrictions in July to coincide with county-wide fire bans and help protect resources and property.
Although the restrictions have been lifted, the department warns that conditions remain very dry. Hunters, anglers and other visitors are urged to use caution when using campfires and grills.
For anyone heading out into the Big Horn Basin, the announcement is a reminder to check restrictions for the specific destination before lighting a fire. This notice applies to Game and Fish Commission lands in Park County; visitors should check separately for rules on other public or private lands.
