From wildlife encounters to sweeping landscapes, Wyoming offers plenty of moments worth capturing. Photographers of all ages and skill levels can now enter those images in the annual Wyoming Wildlife magazine photo contest for a chance to win prizes and see their work in print.
Entries must be submitted before midnight on Nov. 23. Winning photographs will appear in the magazine’s February 2027 issue. The photographer behind the best overall image will receive a $600 grand prize, donated by this year’s sponsor, The Wyldlife Fund.
The contest welcomes experienced photographers and people who simply enjoy capturing outdoor adventures with a cell phone.
“This photo contest celebrates the remarkable photography being created across our state,” said magazine editor Tracie Binkerd. “With multiple categories, there’s an opportunity for everyone to share their unique perspective. Whether you’re a professional photographer with years of experience or an explorer using a cell phone to capture a beautiful moment, we invite you to enter.”
Four Categories to Explore
First-, second- and third-place prizes, along with honorable mention recognition, will be awarded in four categories:
- Wildlife: Wild mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and arthropods. Priority will go to species managed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
- Scenic: Images featuring prominent landmarks, scenery or inanimate objects.
- Recreation: People enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking and other outdoor activities. Priority will go to activities that support Game and Fish’s mission of “Conserving Wildlife, Serving People.”
- Flora: Wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies and other plant features.
For Bighorn Basin photographers, those categories offer opportunities to showcase the region’s wildlife, mountain scenery, plant life and outdoor recreation.
How to Enter
Each contestant may submit up to 10 photographs total across all four categories. All images must have been taken in Wyoming. Photos cannot have been previously printed or taken on assignment for Wyoming Wildlife.
